Steeped in historic charm and natural beauty, the Town of Goderich on the shore of Lake Huron, lying at the mouth of the Mailand River, takes pride in its reputation as Canada's prettiest town and winner of multiple Communities In Bloom Awards. Goderich boasts some of the best sunsets in North America, which can be viewed while strolling our 1 1/2 km long beach front Boardwalk.
Goderich has much to offer every interest, all year round. For the sports enthusiast we offer excellent swimming, fishing, scuba diving, golfing, hockey, baseball, soccer, tennis, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, an airport with two paved runways as well as a modern, picturesque harbour and marinas.
There are many special events and attractions that are scheduled throughout the year. Such events and attractions include: The Saturday Farmers' Market and the Sunday "Flea Market" located in Courthouse Park during the summer months, Canada Day Celebrations, Festival of Arts and Crafts, and Piping Down the Sun to name a few. Goderich is also known for the Celtic Roots Festival, which is held every year at Lion's Harbour Park. The Festival also includes Celtic College for all those who wish to enrich their Celtic interests. Various sporting events are also hosted year round. The most internationally known sporting event is the Young Canada Week Pee Wee Hockey Tournament, which brings Pee Wee Hockey Teams from all over the country to compete in this internationally known Hockey Tournament.
The Port of Goderich is known nationwide since Victorian times as the ‘Prettiest Town in Canada’, and has been an international champion and runner-up in the world Nations in Bloom contest. There’s so much to see and do in this architecturally-rich port town which sits on the bluffs overlooking the shores of Lake Huron. Goderich’s natural setting along Ontario’s West Coast provides an incredible number of recreation and leisure choices. From The Square it’s just a short stroll along West Street, a designated heritage district, to our beautiful lakefront.
